Our client, A well established coatings manufacturer in Modderfontein is looking for the services of a Decorative Sales Consultant to focus on the sales of decorative coatings to the upper end of the market.

The Decorative Sales Consultant is responsible for generating and sustaining new sales, and repeat business whilst keeping building relationship with customers and ensuring customer satisfaction within a geographic area of responsibility. The Decorative Sales Consultant is responsible for the achievement of sales and financial objectives within the relevant area of responsibility and works very closely with the National Sales Manager and product applicators. The Decorative Sales Consultant represents our Wedge Wood and Life Style Colour brands and product range though may focus selectively dependent on the requirements as identified. The position requires passion, commitment and the drive to succeed with en exceptional weighting on decorative sales ability. The Decorative Sales Consultant is responsible for the daily sales and customer satisfaction activities in the market, ensuring that objectives are met and exceeded and presents our company products and solutions to prospects.

• 3-5 years sales experience with a solid track record
• Background in interior decorating / design / architecture beneficial
• Ability to work independently and in a team context
• Exceptional sales ability, solid relationship building and communication skills

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales and financial targets and any additional targets which may be set by the company from time to time (new accounts, non-billing accounts, key products, call activity etc).
• Develop sales action plans relating to product, brand, geographic area and sales channel in order to ensure that set targets are achieved and exceeded.
• Identify new sales opportunities and increase the number and depth of active accounts. Generate new business and rejuvenate lost business.
• Acquire referrals and engage in networking activities.
• Ensure that the maximum number of product lines are sold.
• Upsell and cross sell products to maximize revenue.
• Focus on the upper end target market for decorative coatings.
• Manage customers from acquisition, through maintenance and growth, with the emphasis on attention to detail, value add and service delivery.
• Have a full understanding of customer needs and requirements
• Advise customer on matters pertaining to decorating trends and finishes.
• Pro-actively address customers needs and identify opportunities for the Company ito increased revenue
• Ensure that specific customer requirements are clearly communicated to the responsible company staff and fully understood at point of order.
• Ensure that the pricing strategy and relevant price lists are fully understood and ensure that they are utilised appropriately.
• Work closely with approved applicators to ensure competitive offering and on-time delivery of projects
• Be an ambassador of the company’s brands and products.
• Adhere to the internal sales processes and procedures and specified by the company.
• Full understanding of the company’s systems and processes and the management of day-to-day activity relating to customer account
• Is responsible for customer service levels within the geographic area.
• Become the main day-to-day point of contact (primary contact point) between the customer and the company.
• Take ownership of all customer problems and complaints, ensuring that they are effectively and efficiently handled and closed-off.
• Ensure ethical, honest and professional business dealings with all customers.
• Ensure sales productivity (call activity, closing rates etc) and efficiencies are maximized
• Travel both regionally and nationally as and when required.
• Propose product innovation concepts and provide marketing input when necessary.
• Establish productive, professional relationships with customers ensuring customer retention and customer satisfaction.
• Assist in the development and delivery of product knowledge and technical training.
• Handle all technical and customer queries effectively and efficiently.
• Prevent competitor products from encroaching on market share within the geographic area.
• Assist customers with technical advice and add decorative value through product and process knowledge and exemplary service.
• Supply monthly reports and feedback on performance as and when requested.
• Call on customers according to the call scheduler / approved cycle.
• Reports on trends, competitor activity and promotions, and complaints.
• Attends and actively participates in sales meetings.
• Submit daily call reports and any additional reports as may be required.
• Assist with any promotions and events as may be required from time to time.
